Splitted Green Gram Cutlet Recipe.

·      1 cup split Green Gram with skin ( Moong Dal Chilka)

·      1 tablespoon Rice flour

·      2 tablespoon Chickpea flour (Besan)

·      2 green Chilies

·      4 Garlic cloves

·      Small piece of Ginger

·      1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

·      1 teaspoon Coriander seeds

·      1 big chopped Onion

·      Coriander

·      1 teaspoon Red Chili powder

·      ½  teaspoon Turmeric

·      1 teaspoon Cumin and Coriander powder

·      Pinch of Carom seeds

·      Salt


Soaked splitted green gram for 4 hours. After 4 hours, remove the water from the Dal and grind the Dal with chilies, garlic, ginger, cumin and coriander seeds. Grind these ingredients thick as much as possible. Do not add too much water at the time of grinding, if you want you add very little.

Transfer this paste in a mixing bowl. Now add chopped onion, coriander, chickpea flour, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin coriander powder, pinch of carom seeds and salt into the paste. Mix well. The mixture should be thick. Keep this mixture aside for 15 minutes. The mixture should be look like in this consistency. 


After 15 minutes, heat a pan or deep tawa on a medium flame. Pour 2 tablespoons of oil in the pan, Spread it evenly. Once oil is heated, size the mixture in a cutlet shape on the pan with the help of rounded spoon. You can keep 5 to 6 cutlets on the pan at a time. Spoon should be bigger than normal spoon. Keep the stove on a medium flame. After frying one side of cutlets, turn the cutlets on another side. This cutlets doesn’t need much oil for frying. If required, you can add the oil as per your requirement. Fry the cutlets till turn brown and crisp. Once both sides cooked, transfer those ready cutlets in the plate.

Serve hot with tomato sauce. It contains Green gram which is very healthy so you can serve to kids as well.
