Upaasache Dhirde Recipe.

  • 1 cup Barnyard Millet ( Varichey Tandul / Sama ke chawal)
  • ½ cup sago ( Sabudana)
  • 1 green chili
  • 1/3 cup roasted Peanuts.
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 2 medium size Potatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup clarified Butter


Take a mixing bowl, add Barnyard Millet (Vari) and sago together. Add water and wash both at least for 3 to 4 times. Then add some water, soak for at least 40 minutes. Keep aside.

After 40 minutes, take a mixture jar. Add Barnyard Millet and sago together. Now add green chilies, cumin seeds, roasted peanuts, salt and water. (Don’t use much water for grinding).  Grind it into a smooth paste. Don’t make much runny batter. Batter should be thick. Transfer this batter into the mixing bowl.

Now take 2 potatoes. Peel the potatoes and shred the potato on the shredder. Then, add some water into the shredded potatoes. Now remove the water from the potatoes and add into the batter. Mix well. Add some salt if required.

Keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes. Now heat a nonstick pan on a medium flame. Spread 1 teaspoon clarified butter. Now pour 2 to 3 spoon of batter on the pan. Allow to cook for 2 minutes. Now turn the dhirde another side and allow to cook for another 2 minute. Cook till golden and crisp.

Now transfer this dhirde into the plate. Now make all the dhirde like this.

Now serve the dhirde with fasting chutney.
