  • 1 Bowl Pigeon Pea Dal (Toor Dal)
  • 1 Bowl Chopped Carrot Leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric
  • Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Mustered Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 Tablespoon Chopped ginger garlic
  • 1 Chopped chilies
  • ½ teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • Chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon kasuri methi
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 to 3 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 to 3 glass Water
  • 2 tablespoon grated coconut.


Wash toor dal at least for 3 times. Add 2 glass of water in it. Add chopped carrot leaves, turmeric and salt in it. Cook the dal till 4 whistles in a cooker.

From other side heat a kadai on a medium flame. Add oil. Once oil heated, add mustered, cumin seeds. Once seeds splutter add asafetida, curry leaves, chopped green chilies, ginger and garlic. Sauté well till change the color. Add chopped onion.

Cook the onion till change the color. Now add chopped tomatoes. Cook the tomatoes till mushy.

Now add red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala powder, kasuri methi and chopped coriander. Mix well. Now add cooked dal in this mixture. Stir well. Add water if required.

As we added salt at the time of boiling the dal. Then, add the salt if required or as per the taste.

Allow to boil the dal for at least 5 minutes. Add grated coconut.

Mix well. Switch off the gas.

Serve this dal with rice.
