Goan Crab Xeq Xeq Curry.

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium size crab
  • 1 chopped onion
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 4 tablespoon Oil
  • Salt
  • Chopped coriander
  • 2 glass boil Water
  • Dry spices:
  • 6 to 7 Red sankeshwari chilies
  • 1 Tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 Bay leave
  • 1 Teaspoon black paper
  • ½ Teaspoon cloves
  • 1 Star anise
  • ½ Black cardamom
  • ½ inch Cinnamon
  • For Xeq Xeq Curry paste:
  • 1 big size onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 10 garlic cloves

Method:

Firstly clean and wash the crab for making curry.

Now heat a pan on a medium flame, roast the all dry spices. Remove it from the pan. Now in a same pan add grated coconut and garlic. Sauté well till change the colour.

Now remove this fried coconut mixture in a plate. Now add Chopped onions and ginger, add oil for frying the onions.  Once onions cook properly add Chopped tomatoes into it. Cook till tomatoes mushy. Now switch off the flame.

Allow to cool down.

Now in a mixture jar, add dry spices and make a fine powder. In that powder add fried coconut, onion mixture and salt. Grind it till fine paste. Use water for grinding.  Make a thick and smooth paste.

Now the masala paste is ready for curry.

Now heat a dip pan on a medium flame.  Pour 3 to 4 tablespoon oil. Once oil heated, add curry leaves and chopped onion. Sauté well.  Cook the onions till change the colour.  Add ½ teaspoon turmeric into the onions.  Mix well.  Now add the clean and washed crabs into it. Add some salt.

Mix well.

Keep the gas on a slow flame.  Keep the lid on a pan. Allow to cook for 5 minutes.  After 5 minutes add masala paste into it. And mix well. Stir it nicely.

Again Keep a lid on the pan and allow to cook for another 5 minutes.

Remember we had used the salt at the time of grinding the paste.

After 5 minutes remove the lid and add 2 glass of boil water. Mix well.

And now allow this gravy to cook for another 15 minutes.

Once nice boil come, check the taste of gravy. Add salt if required.

Mix well.  Add Chopped coriander.

Serve hot with rice.
