Ingredients:

  • 2 cup Basmati Rice or Flavored Long Grain Rice
  • Water
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • For Garnishing: Chopped Coriander.
  • For Tempering:
  • 2 Tablespoon Clarified Butter (Ghee)
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
  • 4 to 5 Cloves
  • 3 to 4 Bay leaf
  • 3 to 4  Green Cardamom
  • 1 or 2 Cinnamon Sticks (Small)

Method:

For washing a rice, take a 2 cup of rice in a pot. Add water and wash the rice at least for 4 to 5 times.

After washing a rice, add water in the rice for cooking. Also add ½ teaspoon of salt into it. Mix well.

The proportion of water is totally depend upon the quality of the rice and the how old rice are.

But the basic measurement for boiling the rice is, if you using a pressure cooker, then add 2 glass of water for 2 cup of rice.

Now place the rice pot into the cooker. Lid on the cooker and cook the rice till 3 whistles.

Once rice cook switch off the flame. And allow to cool for another 10 minutes. Once cooker cool it down completely, remove the steam rice from the cooker. Keep in room temperature for another 5 minutes.

Now will start of tempering the rice. :

Take a kadai, heat it, on a medium flame. Pour 2 tablespoons of ghee into the kadai. Now add cumin, green cardamom, bay leaf, cinnamon and cloves.

Avoid burning of spices too much. Once they release the flavors, add steam rice into it. Mix gently. Keep the gas on a slow flame. Keep stir it for another 2 minutes.

Add chopped coriander and switch off the flame.

The flavorful Jeera Rice is ready to serve.

Serve hot with dal tadka or dal fry.
