Kokani Recipe Tavsolichey Ghavne.

  • 2 cup rice
  • 2 medium size cucumber
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/3 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
  • Water


Wash the rice 4 to 5 times and soak overnight in the water.

At morning grind the soak rice and make a fine paste.

Now remove the skin from the cucumber, make a medium size pieces. Now add cucumber pieces into the mixture jar. Add cumin and turmeric into the jar. And grind it in fine paste.

Now transfer this cucumber paste into the rice mixture then add water and salt. Mix well. Don’t make very thick batter. Batter should be runny.

Now heat an iron tava on a medium flame. If you don’t have an iron tava, you can also use nonstick pan for making this tavsoli ghavne.

Once tava heated, grease the tava with the oil. Then mix the batter once again and take a small cup of batter and pour it evenly throughout the tava. Keep lid on the tava for 1 minutes.  After a minute, you can see the edges of the ghavne coming out. Now you turn the ghavne from other side and allow to cook for another 1 minute.

Then, remove the ghavne from the tava and keep it on the roti basket.  Once it cool down, fold it and keep it in the plate. Then, again grease the tava with oil, and pour the cup of batter on tava. Follow the same process and make all the tavsoli ghavne.

Serve it with hot masala tea.
