Maharashtrian Chakli Recipe.

Ingredients:

·       4 cup Chakli bhajni/ Pith/ Flour

·       2 tablespoons Red Chili powder

·       1 teaspoon Turmeric

·       1 ½  tablespoons Sesame Seeds

·       1 teaspoon Carom seeds

·       ½ teaspoon Asafoetida

·       Salt

·       1 tablespoon Oil

Method:

Heat a pot with 2 glass of water. Allow to make hot. Then add red chili powder, turmeric, salt, asafoetida, sesame seeds and carom seeds. Water is ready for make chakli dough.

 

Pour the water into the chakli bhajni. Mix it slowly.

 

 

Make a tight dough. Keep aside for 15 minutes.

 

Then you start making chakli.

Press the chakli dough. Make few an equal parts of dough. Take the chakli maker. Put one part of dough into the maker. 

 

Tightly close the lid of chakli maker. Start making chakli in a circular motion, do 4 to 5 spiral rounds. Close their ends.

 

This way make all the chakli of remaining dough.

 Heat a kadai with oil for frying the chakli. Once oil heated nicely, keep the gas on a medium flame. Not too slow and too high.

Put at least 6 to 7 chakli into the oil. Fry it on a medium flame. Once both the sides look nice golden brown.

 

Remove it from oil and transfer it on the tissue paper.

You may check chakli are fried perfectly or not. So you get the idea for how much time it took for frying at the one slot.

Again put second slot of chakli. And fry it. This way make all the chakli.

 

Enjoy this crispy chaklis with tea time or in a festive season.
