Take rice and mix lentils in separate bowl. Wash cleanly and soaked in water seperetaly. Keep aside and soaked for 5 hours.

After 5 hours, take a mixture jar mix both Dals and rice together. Grind it in fine paste. Don’t make a batter very watery. Keep a batter in a medium consistency.

Mix the batter with the spoon and keep in warm place for fermentation. For fermenting process take at least 10 to 12 hours.

Fermentation process is totally depend upon the season. In a winter season Fermentation take more time. But 10 to 12 hours is more enough for fermentation in any season.

Now the batter is ready to make aape. Heat a aape tawa on a medium flame. Once aape tawa is hot enough, slow the gas flame. I am using clarified butter for making aape. So, you may use oil or clarified butter.

After adding a ghee, in each cavity. Then, pour the batter in each cavity. Keep lid for 2 to 3 minutes. Once all the cavities filled, keep lid over aape maker for 2 minute in a slow flame. After 2 minutes, adjust the gas on medium flame. Cook the aape till brown and crisp. Then, turn the aape on another side and cook it same way. Then remove the aape from aape maker and go for another slot.

After completing of all the aape. Serve it with coconut chutney.
