Maharashtrian Gaboli Chanyachi Bhaji.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bowl soaked gaboli chana ( chole)
  • For masala paste:
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 5 to 6 garlic cloves
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 1 chopped onion
  • Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • Oil
  • Water
  • ½  teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon  red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 5 to 6 curry leaves
  • ½ teaspoon mustered seed
  • Salt

Method:

Wash the chana and add 2 glass of water, 1 teaspoon salt and turmaric.

Pressure cook this chana in cooker till 3 whistle.

Now will prepare the masala for this subji.

Heat a kadai on a medium flame.  Add grated coconut, ginger and garlic. Sauté the coconut till remove release the aroma. Now add Chopped onion and 1 tablespoon oil into this mixture. Cook till onions change the colour. Add some coriander.  Mix well.  And switch off the gas.

Allow to cool down.  Now grind this onion coconut mixture with ½ teaspoon turmeric and 1 teaspoon garam masala powder. So, the masala is ready.

Now heat a kadai, add oil. Once oil heated, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.  Now add ginger garlic paste.  Sauté well. Add Chopped onion.  Cook the onions till change the colour.  

Now add red chili powder and turmeric.  Mix well.  Add grinded masala into the onions. Sauté well for 2 minutes on a low flame.

Now add boiled chana into this masala. Add some boiled water also. Stir well. As we added salt into the chana at the time of cooking so, will check the taste of subji. Then add salt as required.

Allow to boil this subji for 10 to 15 minutes.  Add Chopped coriander and mix well.  

Switch off the gas.

Serve this delicious Gaboli Chana Bhaji with rice bhakari.
