  • ½ cup gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • 5 to 6 Curry Leaves
  • ½ tablespoon red Chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric
  • Chopped Coriander
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 5 to 6 garlic Cloves
  • Pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1 Tablespoon Oil
  • ½ cup water.


Heat a pan on a medium flame. Add gram flour. Dry roast for 2 minutes. Transfer it into the plate.

Now in a same pan, add oil. Once oil heated, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Now add curry leaves and chopped garlic. Sauté the garlic till change the color. Now add chopped onions. Cook the onion till change the color.

Now add red chili powder, turmeric. Mix well.

Then, add gram flour. Mix with onions. Then add ½ cup water and salt. Mix it again. Keep a lid on a pan. Allow to cook for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes remove lid and sprinkle some water with the hand. Allow to cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.

Now add chopped coriander and sprinkle some water on the zunka. And cook for 2 minutes.

Zunka is ready to serve.

Serve with bhakri.
