  • 1 cup Masoor Dal
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • 1 Chopped Green Chili
  • 4 to 5 curry leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Chopped tomato
  • Chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cumin coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt
  • 2 to 3 Tablespoon Oil
  • For Tadka:
  • 7 to 8 Chopped Garlic
  • ½ inch chopped ginger
  • 1 to 2 Dry Red Chilies
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder


Wash and soaked the masoor dal in water for 15 minutes.

Heat a non-stick cooker on a medium flame. Pour oil. Once oil heated, add mustered and cumin seeds. Add green chilies, curry leaves and chopped onion. Sauté well.

Now add chopped tomato and salt. Allow to cook till tomatoes mushy. Add red chili powder, turmeric, cumin coriander powder, garam masala powder. Mix well. Then, add soaked dal and water. Add some salt and mix well. Now lid on the cooker and cook the dal till 3 whistles.

Once cooker is cool down, stir the dal. Now heat one tadka pan. Add oil. Once oil heated add, chopped garlic and ginger. Stir it, till raw smell goes. Now add dry red chili and chili powder. Mix well. Now pour this tadka on the dal. Mix well.

Serve with rice.
