Suran and Sweet Potato Cutlet.

  • 200 gm Suran / Jimikand / Elephant Foot Yam
  • 1 Large size Sweet potato
  • 1 Chopped onion
  • Chopped Coriander
  • 1 Chopped green chili
  • 1 Tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/3 Teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin coriander powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • ½ teaspoon aamchur powder
  • Salt
  • Corn flour and water for slurry
  • Oil for frying


Peel the suran and sweet potato and wash it in running water. Now make small pieces of both and wash it again. Cook them in a pressure cooker and then, mashed it.

In the mashed suran and sweet potato mixture, add chopped onion, coriander, green chili, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin coriander powder, garam masala powder, aamchur powder and salt. Mix well.

Now make any shape of cutlets. Keep them in a fridge for 15 minutes. Now in a small bowl add 2 tablespoon of corn flour, water. Mix well and make slurry.

After 15 minutes, heat a pan on a medium flame. Pour some oil for frying the cutlets. Deep the cutlet in a slurry and arrange it into the pan. Allow to cook for some minutes. Once it changes the color turn it from the other side. Cook it till golden and crisp.

So the delicious Suran and Sweet Potato Cutlets are ready to serve. This is a best option for children’s birthday party.
