  • 1 Bowl Thick Semolina ( Jada Rava)
  • 1 Bowl Spinach
  • ½ cup curd
  • 2 Green Chilies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4 to 5 garlic
  • For Tempering:
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • ½ Teaspoon Mustard seeds
    • 1 teaspoon Urad Dal
    • 1/3 Teaspoon Asafoetida
    • Curry leaves
    • 1Tablespoon Oil
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • Chopped Coriander
  • 1 glass water
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 Sachet ENO
  • Oil or Ghee


Grind the palak, chilies, ginger and garlic. Make a fine paste. Now heat a kadai, add oil. Once oil heated add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal curry leaves and asafetida. Now add rava into these tempering. Sauté the rava for 2 minutes and switch off the gas. Add palak mixture, curd, chopped onion, coriander and lemon juice. Mix well. Add 1 glass of water and make thick mixture.

Keep aside for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, heat the aape pan on a medium flame. Pour oil or ghee in each cavity.

From other side add 1 sachet ENO in the aape mixture, add some water on it to activate the ENO. Mix well.

When the aape maker is hot enough, add oil or ghee with a spoon. Pour the batter in the each cavity. Once all the cavities filled, keep lid over aape maker for 2 minute in a slow flame.

After 2 minutes, adjust the gas on medium flame. Cook the aape till brown and crisp. Then, turn the aape on another side and cook it same way. Then remove the aape from aape maker and go for another slot.

After completing of all the aape. Served it with coconut chutney.
