Phodnich Varan Maharashtrian Recipe.

Ingredients:

·      1 cup Split Pigeon Peas (Toor Dal)

·      ½ cup Split petit yellow lentil ( Moong Dal)

·      7 to 8 Garlic cloves

·      3 to 4 chopped Green Chilies

·      1 big chopped Tomatoes

·      ¼ teaspoon Asafoetida

·      1 teaspoon Cumin

·      1 teaspoon Mustard seeds

·      Turmeric

·      Curry leaves

·      1/3 cup of shredded Coconut

·      Chopped Coriander

·      Salt

·      Oil

·      Water

Method:

Wash both the Dals and boiled into the pressure cooker with 3 whistles.

Heat a pan on a medium flame. Pour 2 tablespoons of oil. Once oil is heated, add mustard seeds and cumin. After fluttering mustered and cumin, add asafoetida, curry leaves, crushed garlic and chopped chilies.  Saute well. Then add chopped tomatoes into this tadka.    

Fry till tomatoes gets cook well. Add turmeric. Mix well. Now pour the cook Dal into this tadka. Add 1 glass of water or as per the consistency want. Add salt as per the taste. Mix well. Allow to boil for 5 to 7 minutes on a medium flame. After boiling the Dal. Add shredded coconut and chopped coriander. Keep on flame for another 2 minutes. Switch off the flame.

Serve hot with plain rice and pickle.
