Pomfret Curry Recipe Kokani Style.

Ingredients:

  • Pomfret fish 6 pieces 
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 split green Chilies
  • 2 crushed Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • Salt
  • oil
  • For Gravy Paste:
  • 1 cup grated Coconut
  • 1 Small chopped onion
  • 1 Big size tomato
  • 7 to 8 Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 4 green Chilies
  • ½ cup Coriander leaves
  • For soaking:
  • 5 to 6 Dry Red Chilies ( Sankeshwari Mirchi)
  • 2 tablespoon Tamarind
  • ½ teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander Seeds.
  • For Marinating:
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • ½ Teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ Teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ Teaspoon salt.

Method:

Wash fish pieces cleanly and apply some ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric and salt. Keep aside.

Take one bowl with half glass of water, add split dry red chili, tamarind (Remove Seeds from tamarind), Cumin, Coriander seeds and fenugreek seeds. Soak this for 15 minutes till soften the red chilies.

Take mixture jar, add grated coconut, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilies, coriander and also add soak red chilies, tamarind, cumin coriander seeds, and fenugreek seeds. Add some water and grate into a fine paste. Now the curry paste is ready.

Heat a kadai on a medium flame, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once oil is heated, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds flutter, add curry leaves, split green chilies and crushed garlic.

Saute well till, garlic change the color. Now add curry paste, fry this paste on a slow flame for 5 minutes till raw smell goes. Add some turmeric. Mix it.

Now add 2 glass of water. Add some salt to taste. Mix it well and allow to boil.

Once it’s started boiling, add pieces of fish and mix well. Now, allow to boil at least for 10 minutes to cook the fish properly.

Once fish cook switch off the flame.

Garnish with chopped coriander.

Serve hot with bhakari or steam rice.
