RICE FLOUR AND SEMOLINA AAPE.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • ½ Cup Semolina ( Rava)
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • Chopped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ENO or Fruit Salt
  • Oil or clarified butter ( Ghee)
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 chopped chilies
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 5 to 6  curry leaves

Method:

Take one mixing bowl, add rice flour and semolina. Now add salt and curd. Mix well. Then add water and make smooth batter. The batter not too thick or runny.

Keep the batter ready. Cover the batter and allow to rest for 1 hour.

After 1 hour mix the batter. And add chopped onions and coriander.

Now will start for tempering, heat a tadka pan on a slow flame. Now add oil into it. Once oil heated, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped green chilies. Once chilies change the color.   Add ginger garlic paste. Sauté well. Switch off the flame. And pour this tempering on the batter. Mix well.

Now our aape batter is ready.

Heat a non-stick aape tawa (aape maker) on a medium flame. When the aape maker is hot enough, add oil or ghee with a spoon.

Now here, we add fruit salt into the batter. Mix immediately. You can see the batter looks fluffy.

Now, pour the batter in the each cavity. Once all the cavities filled, keep lid over aape maker for 2 minute in a slow flame. After 2 minutes, adjust the gas on medium flame. Cook the aape till brown and crisp. Then, turn the aape on another side and cook it same way. Then remove the aape from aape maker and go for another slot.

After completing of all the aape. Served it with coconut chutney.
