  • 1 Cup Wheat Sevai (You can use any type of sevai eg. Wheat, maida, ragi, rice or rava etc.)
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • 2 Chopped Green Chilies
  • 4 to 5 Curry Leaves
  • 1/3 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/3 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Chopped Capsicum
  • 1/3 Cup Green Peas
  • 1/3 Cup Chopped Carrots
  • 2 Tablespoon oil
  • Salt
  • Pinch of Turmeric
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili powder (Optional)
  • 1 glass boiled water
  • Chopped coriander
  • Lemon Pieces for Serving.


Head a non-stick pan on a medium flame. Pour some oil. Add sevai into the oil, roast them well till change the color. Then remove those sevai from the pan.

Now add some oil. Once oil heated add, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they splutter add curry leaves, chopped chilies and onions. Saute well. Once onion change the color, add green peas, chopped capsicums and carrots. Add some salt on it. Mix well. Keep the gas on a slow flame. Allow to cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Once veggies cook, add turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix well. Then add roasted sevai on it. Add some salt mix well. Now add hot water in this mixture. Mix well. Keep the gas on a slow flame. Keep a lid on a pan. And allow to cook for at least 10 minutes on a slow flame.

Once sevai cook add some chopped coriander. Mix well and switch off the flame.

Serve this sevai upma with lemon.
