  • 3 Medium Size Ridge Gourd (Dodka/ Turai)
  • ½ cup Soaked Chana Dal
  • 1 Big Size Chopped Onion
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic paste
  • 2 Tablespoon Onion Coconut Masala ( For Recipe refer
  • 1 Tablespoon Red Chili Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • ½ Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/3 Teaspoon Asafoetida
  • Chopped coriander


For soaking chana dal. Take chana dal in a bowl and wash it. Now soaked this dal in a water for at least 1 hour. Now you can use this soaked dal for subzi.

Now we will clean and cut the ridge guard. First remove the outer part of the ridge guard with the help of peeler. Now make the small pieces of ridge guard. Keep aside.

Now heat a pan, add some oil. Once oil heated add, mustard seeds. Once seeds splutter, add Asafoetida and chopped onion.

Sauté well. Cook the onion till change the color. Add ginger garlic paste and soaked dal into it. Mix well. Now add red chili powder, turmeric onion coconut masala. Mix well.

Add pieces of ridge gourd and salt. Mix well. Keep the lid on the subzi. Allow to cook for 5 to7 minutes. Now remove the lid. Again mix well.

Check whether subzi cooked or not. Once its cook add chopped coriander.

Mix well.

Serve hot with Chapati or roti.
