Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Akkha Masoor
  • 1 Tablespoon oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter / Ghee
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 2 slit green chilies
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 Black Cardamom
  • 1 chopped onion
  • Garlic green chili theccha
  • ½ Cup tomato puree
  • 1/3 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon kanda lasoon masala
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin coriander powder
  • Salt
  • Chopped coriander
  • Water

Method:

First, we were wash the masoor in a running water for at least 4 to 5 times, then soaked this masoor in water for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, we can start for the recipe. Heat a pressure cookeron a medium flame. Pour oil and butter. Once butter melted, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, green chilies, and black cardamom. Once cumin starts spluttering, add chopped onion. Sauté well.

Once onion change the color add, garlic and green chili theccha. Fry well. Then, add tomato puree. Stir it for at least 5 minutes. Now add kanda lasoon masala, turmeric, garam masala powder and cumin coriander powder. Mix well.

Once all the spices leaves the oil add soaked akkha masoor in it and add salt. Stir it once. Add 2 to 3 glass of boil water. Lid off the pressure cooker and cook the masoor till 5 to 6 whistle. Switch off the gas.

Once cooker is cool down. Open the lid of cooker and check masoor is cook or not. Again switch on the gas on a low flame. Add water and salt if required. If you like thick consistency in dal then do not used much water.

Mix well. Now add chopped coriander. After one boil switch off the gas.

The Akkha Masoor Dal is ready to serve. Serve it with rice and pickle.
