Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup split Pigeon peas ( Toor Dal)
  • 1/3 cup split petite yellow lentil ( Moong Dal)
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • For Masala Paste:
  • 1 small chopped Onions
  • 1/2  chopped Tomatoes
  • 3 to 4 chopped Garlic Cloves
  • 1/3 cup grated coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • Chopped Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon Asafoetida
  • ½ cup water

Method:

Wash both the Dals and cook in pressure cooker with 3 whistles.

Now take mixture jar, add all the masala paste ingredients into it. (Chopped onion, tomato, garlic, coconut, turmeric, cumin, coriander seeds, coriander leaves and asafoetida) add water and make a fine paste.

Transfer the boil dal into the pot. Now add this paste into the boil dal. Keep this pot on a gas on a medium flame. Now add some curry leaves, salt and water. Add the water as per the requirement.

Allow to boil till the masala mix in it properly. You can also check the taste and adjust the salt/water as you wanted. Allow to cook for 5 to 7 minute.

Now switch off the flame.

Serve this dal with steam rice and pickle.
