Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Moong Dal
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 glass Water
  • 1 teaspoon green Cardamom powder
  • Chopped Dry Fruits ( Almonds and Cashew) / ½ Cup Dry Fruit Powder
  • 1 cup Clarified Butter ( Ghee)
  • 1 tablespoon Semolina
  • 1 Tablespoon Gram Flour

Method:

Wash moong dal and socked it into the water for at least 4 hours. After 4 hours remove entire water from the dal. And grind them in the mixture grinder.

Now heat a kadai on a medium flame, add ghee into it. Then add semolina and gram flour. Mix it with the ghee till change the color. 

Now keep the gas on a slow flame and add moong dal paste into the ghee.

Note:  You have to cook this paste on a slow flame only. Keep stir it. Avoid making lumps. You have to smash this paste nicely into the ghee.

On the other side, heat the pan with 1 glass of water and add sugar and cardamom powder into it. Allow to boil. Boil the water till sugar get dissolved.

In this process you have to stir the moong dal paste continuously. After 10 minutes you can see the paste can absorb the whole ghee. And it looks brown in color. Once moong halwa looks bubbly then, add sugar syrup into it. Be careful, keep the gas on a slow flame. Once you add the sugar syrup in the mixture keep stirring it.

We have stir this till all the water gets absorbed.  It will take another 10 minutes. You may add chopped dry fruits or dry fruit powder in it.

Mix well. You have to cook this for another 5 minutes. You can see, the ghee gets separated from the halwa. The delicious halwa is ready to serve.
