  • 2 cup Basmati Rice
  • 1 cup Green Peas ( Hare Matar )
  • 1 Cup Fenugreek leaves ( Methi )
  • 2 chopped Onions
  • 2 Green chilies
  • 2 chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tablespoons Red Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 tablespoons Garam Masala powder
  • Chopped Coriander
  • 4 Tablespoon Oil
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons clarified Butter
  • Salt
  • 4 to 5 glass Boil water
  • Dry spices for tempering:
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 2 Green Cardamom
  • 1 Black Cardamom
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 5 to 6 Black Paper corn
  • 4 to 5 Cloves
  • 1 piece Cinnamon


Firstly wash the rice 4 to 5 times and soaked in the water for 15 minutes.

Now heat a heavy bottom pot on a medium flame, pour 3 tablespoons of oil in it. Add Mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they sputter, add all the dry spices (Green Cardamom, black Cardamom, bay leaves, black paper corn, cloves, cinnamon).

Now add chopped onions. Once onions changed the colour add ginger garlic paste. Sauté well. Now add chopped tomatoes. Mix it with onions. Allow to cook for another 2 minutes. Now add red chili powder, turmeric, Garam Masala powder and some salt. Mix it well.

Keep the gas on a slow flame. Now add green peas and methi leaves into this. Mix it again. Now add chopped coriander.

Remove all the water from the rice. And add soaked rice into this fried mixture. Add some salt on the rice. Mix the Rice with all the spices. Now add 4 glass of boil water.

Mix well.

Allow to boil for at least 4 to 5 minutes. Now again mix with all the rice. Keep the gas on a slow flame. And keep a lid on a pot. Now allow to cook for another 5 to 7 minutes.

Add chopped coriander and drizzled the ghee on the top of the rice. Again keep lid for another 4 minutes.

Methi Matar Pulao is ready to serve.

Serve with Curd raita.
