·       ½ kg flattened Rice ( Poha)

·       150 gm Peanuts

·       100 gm roasted Chana Dal

·       1 cup Cashew

·       1 dry Coconut

·       For tadka/ temparing:

ü 4 to 5 tablespoons Oil

ü 1 tablespoons Mustard seeds

ü ½ tablespoons Cumin

ü Curry Leaves

ü 2 to 3 green Chilies

ü ½ teaspoon Asafoetida

ü 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain

ü 1 teaspoon Turmeric

ü Salt


Firstly, cut the medium and thin size pieces of coconut.

Now, heat kadai on a medium flame. Dry roast the flattened rice. Then, dry roast roasted chana Dal. Remove from the kadai. Now pour some oil in a kadai and fry the peanuts and cashew nuts till crunchy.


Transfer those peanuts and cashew on the flattened rice. Now also fry the pieces of dry coconut.


Now in a same kadai, make tadka. Pour some oil, once oil heated add mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Once both are splutter, add asafoetida and ajwain. Now add curry leaves and some chopped green chilies. Keep the gas on a slow flame, fry the chilies till crisp. Now add some salt and turmaric into this tadka. Switch off the flame.


Now pour this tadka on poha. Add some sugar and mix all the ingredients properly. Once everything get mix properly, you may check the taste of salt, add if required.


Now, poha chivda is ready. You may enjoy this chivda in any festive season.
