Rava Idli Recipe.

·       1 cup Semolina ( Rava)

·       ½ cup Curd

·       ½ teaspoon Soda

·       1 tablespoons Oil

·       1 teaspoon Mustered seeds

·       ½ tablespoons Urad Dal ( Split black Gram)

·       Pinch of Asafoetida

·       5 to 6 curry leaves

·       1 chopped Green Chilies

·       Chopped Coriander

·       Salt

·       Water



Heat a pan on a medium flame, pour some oil. Once oil is heated, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds splutter, add urad Dal, asafoetida and curry leaves. Once Dal change the colour, add green chilies.


Now, slow the gas flame and add semolina. Mix it well. Fry the semolina on a medium flame for atleast 3 to 4 minutes.


Now switch off the flame. Transfer this semolina in a mixing bowl. Allow to cool down for 10 minutes. Then add curd and salt into the semolina. Mix it properly. And keep aside for atleast 1 hour.


After a 1 hour, if semolina look very thick, then add ½ cup of water for making perfect consistency.

Till, heat the idli steamer on a high flame. Grease the Idli’s mold with oil. Once steamer is nicely heated. Add ½ teaspoon soda into the semolina mixture also add some chopped coriander. Mix it well.


And fill the mould with this idly batter. Keep in a steamer. Keep the lid on a steamer and allow the Idlies to cook for 3 to 5 minutes.


The hot and delicious rava Idlies ready to eat.


Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
