Varicha Bhaat and Upasachi Takachi Kadhi.

Ingredients:

For varicha bhaat

  • 1 cup varicha tandul / Bhagar / Samo Rice / Barnyard Millet.
  • 1 ½ cup Water
  • Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Clarified butter
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin

For Upasachi Takachi Kaddhi

  • 1 big bowl Butter Milk
  • 1 green Chilies
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoons Rajgira flour / Amaranth Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Shredded coconut
  • 2 tablespoons Crushed peanut
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • Salt
  • For Tempering Kadhi:
  • 1 tablespoons clarified Butter
  • 1 split green Chilies
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin

Method:

First prepare masala paste for kadhi. Take a mixture jar, add shredded coconut, green chilies, cumin coriander seeds and rajgira flour. Add little water, grind it in very fine paste.

Now take mixing bowl, add butter milk, masala paste of Coconut. Mix well.

Now heat a pot on a medium flame. Pour clarified butter. Then add cumin and split green chilies. Once green chilies change the colour. Pour the butter milk mixture. Add salt. Stir it continuously.

Add crushed peanut and sugar.

Keep kadhi for boil. Once boil come, cook for another 5 minutes. Then switch off the flame. Our fasting kadhi is ready. Keep aside.

Now start making, varicha bhaat. First cleanly wash vari rice. .

Now heat a pot on a slow flame. Pour 1 teaspoon clarified butter. Then add cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds splutter, add wash vari rice on it. Mix it well. Now add water and salt. Allow to cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Once boil come. Mix it again. And keep lid on a pot. And allow to cook for another 5 minutes.

Vari bhaat is ready to serve with fasting kadhi.
